Everyone Goes to the All Star Game

It had been a long time since the Athletics sent anyone other than a pitcher to the All Star game but in 2014 the team sent 7, including third base starter Josh Donaldson. Donaldson, Brandon Moss, Yoenis Cespedes, Sean Doolittle, Derek Norris, Scott Kazmir and the recently acquired Jeff Samardzija (as well as the yet to be acquired Jon Lester) got the call to the big game and for the first time since “the streak” the Oakland Athletics were the talk of the town.

Cespedes went on to win his second home run derby trophy and at one point during the game there were more A’s on the field than any other team in baseball. It was a proud moment for Oakland fans who were riding high all season long with a crazy run differential and more wins than they knew what to do with.
