Reddick, being a nice guy, arranged to have Jennifer come down to the clubhouse before the game to address the players.
“I haven’t seen this team in the World Series since I was 9 years old,” she told the team.
“You guys are special. You’re the best of the best. You’ve got to go all the way this year. You’ve come so close too many times. I won’t feel good about this season unless we go to the World Series and when we do, we have to win!
“Coco, you’ve got to steal bases. Reddick, you’ve got to hit homeruns. Lawrie, you’ve got to stay healthy. Butler, you’ve got to lay off the country breakfasts, that’s got to be terrible on your cholesterol. You’re my favorite team because you’re the best team ever so play like the best team ever!”
The clubhouse erupted in cheers and in that single, short, moment, Jennifer bonded the team in an incredible way. Reddick stood on a table, wearing no pants as usual, and made a proclimation.
“This is going to be my best year yet. I’m going to hit more home runs and drive in more RBI’s than I ever have before and when we win the World Series, I’m going to grab Jennifer from the crowd and make her the MVP!”
