The Oakland Athletics completed just one deal in the month of July, but they received two talented ballplayers from the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for reliever Brad Ziegler. In this post, we’ll examine, or introduce for that matter, one of two new Oakland Athletics: LHP Jordan Norberto.
Norberto, 24, will join the Athletics and will be a part of the team when it heads to Seattle this week. According to a recent post by Scout.com, the Athletics’ newest left-handed reliever has a very good fastball. He’s had some experience on the big-league level with Arizona, and the A’s should benefit from having a guy whose fastball clocks in at the mid-to-upper 90s.
Command issues have been a problem for Norberto in the past, but the A’s should be happy that they landed a guy who could prove to be a very solid situational pitcher. Scout.com also notes that Norberto has a very solid curveball that clocks in at around 80 mph, and has very good potential overall.
With Norberto now in Oakland’s bullpen, the A’s will continue to feature four left-handed options in the ‘pen.
