You never know what can happen in the unpredictable world of Twitter.  Conversations between athletes is ordinary and when one brags about their beard, well, that is common also.

But what about athletes engaging in beard-growing contests via Twitter?

A’s fans know Josh Reddick is a huge fan of WWE. Well, the 2012 Gold Glove award winner became the competition of WWE’s Daniel Bryan when he challenged Reddick to a year-long “beard-off.”

Reddick didn’t back down when the challenge arose — he didn’t hesitate to accept it either.

According to John Hickey of the San Jose Mercury News, an online fan vote will determine who wins the competition and the loser will have to shave their beard. You can vote here.

Scott Armstrong, a WWE referee, decided to declare himself as the “official referee” of the “beard-off.”

Let’s hope Armstrong isn’t bias toward his sport. And maybe he can figure out how to level the playing field for Reddick and Bryan.  Bryan is pushing 600,000 Twitter followers while Reddick has nearly 35,000.
