The Oakland Athletics had a problem on Saturday, they got rained out and had to cancel the final exhibition game in the bay bridge series, in which the Oakland Athletics took the first two games. They limited the San Francisco Giants to only 1 run in 18 innings, and Jesse Chavez had a no hitter through 5 innings in the second game. It only seemed perfect for the Athletics to go for the sweep in Oakland, with another dominant performance.
Sadly it didn’t happen, but there was still plenty going around on twitter to keep an A’s fan entertained during the delay that eventually led to a cancellation.
Jane Lee had an excellent piece on Sonny Gray to read that you can check out here, about his father’s impact on his life. Be warned, it’s an emotional one, and if you’re an emotional person, you may need a box of tissues at hand.
Josh Reddick also brought to light more issues with the Coliseum. There were sewage issues in the coaches room, in which it began to flood from the bathroom. He tweeted about it, saying “Back in Oakland? Sewage Problems in the clubhouse!! Yep. We are BACK BABAY”.
My favorite thing to come from twitter however, was the tweet by Josh Reddick. This tweet. He posted a picture of the popular anime Dragon Ball Z, which you younger readers between 15 and 30 probably love and know about already. If you aren’t familiar with it, well then this won’t be as cool for you. But if you’re like me and grew up on shows like that, then Josh Reddick probably just cracked your list of top 5 favorite players. He used the hashtag #nerdconfession along with saying that at least he has Dragon Ball Z to watch during the rain delay.
So while it was disappointing to miss out on a 3rd game, at least we had a lot to look at on twitter. The first game of the season is on Monday the 31st, against the Cleveland Indians. Let’s just hope that game doesn’t get rained out too.
