Wrestlemania 30 Predictions from Josh Reddick

Wrestlemania 30 is here, and it’s time for everyone to start predicting what will happen in the biggest spectacle of the wrestling year. Just like last year, Josh Reddick has made his predictions with the guys at Hall of Very Good. The full article can be found here.
A quick synopsis of Reddick’s picks is as follows:
AJ Lee keeps the Championship.
The Big Show wins the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, but he also picks CM Punk as a wild card winner.
The Usos keep the Tag-Team Belts in the Fatal 4-way with The Real Americans, Los Matadores, and Rybaxel.
Bray Wyatt defeats John Cena
Daniel Bryan beats Triple H, and then goes on to win the WWE Championship against Randy Orton and Batista.
This got me thinking. What else could happen? AJ Lee, The Usos and Bray Wyatt are pretty sure bets to win their matches. The Battle Royal could go one of a couple ways. Since the event is named after Andre the Giant, the Big Show would be a logical choice, since he is also a giant. It would be a nice way to honor Andre.
Only 27 of the 30 participants have been announced, so we are in for some surprises. The magic of a Royal Rumble match is that you never know who’s coming next. Once the clock hits 0.00, and the next superstar’s music hits, there is anticipation and excitement in the air. CM Punk has been absent since the Royal Rumble PPV this past January, and this would be the perfect time for him to come back. This could also be a big launching point for an up and coming superstar as well. Back in January, WWE used the Rumble match to catapult Roman Reigns by making him a dominant force throughout the match. This could also be done with Titus O’Neil, who recently split with tag team partner Darren Young.
*If Punk doesn’t return, be on the lookout for The Rock in this match. He has been gone since last Wrestlemania, and would be a welcome sight.
It has to be assumed that Daniel Bryan will wind up in the main event competing for the Championship. Whether or not Triple H takes his trusty sledgehammer to him first is the main question. Every WWE fan wants Bryan to win the title, whether you’re a huge Yes! Movement fan, or simply tired of Randy Orton. The title needs to change hands. Bleacher Report had an interesting take on what could happen with this match. They threw a lot at the wall, but what I liked the most was the possibility of The Shield (who are already feuding with The Authority, and en route to becoming good guys) coming out to help Bryan finally become WWE Champion after his 9 month journey since SummerSlam.
The Shield have a match of their own against Kane and the New Age Outlaws. The only thing I could see happening that would be a surprise is The Shield losing due to interference, which causes them to interfere in the Main Event. This would also lead to an irate Authority, which would schedule a match for Monday Night Raw pitting The Shield against one another. This would advance the storyline of a Shield breakup, which was started a few months ago.
Lastly, there is the Undertaker against Brock Lesnar. This should be a good match, because Taker only has one a year. There is no way that Brock Lesnar is the one that beats Undertaker at Wrestlemania. CM Punk had a legit shot last year, because he was one of the top dogs in WWE, and a victory by Punk would have been a passing of the torch of sorts. A victory by Lesnar wouldn’t mean much. He participates in about half of the PPVs every year and doesn’t wrestle on TV. The Streak will be broken by another giant in the industry in the coming years (Rumors on Ring Rust Radio say Sting) or someone like Daniel Bryan. When Undertaker loses the streak, it will be his last match, and none of us are ready for that to happen just yet. The Streak will grow to 22-0.
The outcomes of these matches may be exactly what we think, but the beauty of Wrestlemania is that WWE pulls out all the stops. Daniel Bryan may win, but in an unimaginable way. He also may lose, and create a new storyline for the coming months. Wrestlemania is the culmination of the year’s storylines, and the beginning of all-new ones. It’s the Super Bowl and Christmas for wrestling fans. It doesn’t matter if our favorite superstar wins, it’s all about the ride.
