After the River Cats defeated the Reno Aces 14-7 in the rubber match on July 6, the Cats headed to Fresno.

More from Oakland A's Prospects

And for the second straight game, everyone in the River Cats lineup earned a hit. The Cats won 6-4 and Paul Smyth earned the victory. The Cats and Grizzlies would then alternate wins as they split the four-game series evenly. Nick Buss earned hits in every game of the series and finished in Fresno batting 8-20 (.400%).

The River Cats then headed home to welcome the just-visited Aces. The River Cats took the first game behind the hot bat of Andy Parrino, who went 3 for 4, and took the second behind the bat of Alden Carrithers and four innings of one run ball from Drew Pomeranz, who K’d seven, as well as four innings from the winning pitcher, Matt Buschmann. The Aces were able to avoid the sweep the next day with a 2-1 victory.

Hitting Performance of the Week: Shane Peterson‘s weekend four-game series (three games played) against Albuquerque — 9 for 15 with 3 HRs (all in the first game), 8 RBI, 9 R, and 3 2B and earned PCL Player of the Week honors. Have yourself a weekend, kid! (Peterson is technically older than me, but still.)

The River Cats then headed to Albuquerque on the 17th and faced the isotopes. In a hard-hitting battle in the desert, there were a combined 107 hits in the four game set to go along with 71 runs, yes, 71 RUNS!!!!

The Cats were able to get a 10-9 win in extras the first night, but, although every other game in the four-game series was close, the Cats were on the wrong end, losing the last three games 13-11, 8-7, and 7-6, even with Peterson GOING COMPLETELY BANANAS.

Pitching Performance of the Week: Tie — Arnold Leon with 6 IP, 3 ER, 3 H, 13Ks, 2 BB and Tucker Healy with 2 1/3 IP<, 1 H, 4 Ks, 1 BB and a W.
