After perhaps his worst outing of the season on Wednesday night, the Athletics have decided to finally part ways with reliever Jim Johnson.
Evan Scribner has been recalled to replace Jim Johnson on the roster.

With Johnson out, Scribner has been called up to take his place. In Sacramento, Scribner has compiled a 4-1 record with a 3.35 ERA. His K/BB ratio is pretty impressive, even a little Doolittle-esque. He has walked 7 batters while striking out 57.

Moving forward in Oakland, parting ways with Johnson will help the bullpen tremendously. Not only will Johnson not be in it, but the A’s will have a pitcher that is capable of being a true long reliever. This move will end up saving the arms in the ‘pen for the rest of the season, and keep them fresh for a playoff run.
While Jim Johnson’s time with the A’s is not what any of us had in mind when the A’s acquired him, I do still want to wish him luck in his future endeavors.
