In what has been a busy morning for the Athletics, having already sent Yoenis Cespedes to the Red Sox for Jon Lester and Jonny Gomes, Billy Beane is not finished. It is being reported that Tommy Milone has been traded to the Twins.

A couple of weeks ago, Milone asked to be traded. Being traded to the spacious Target Field is a blessing for Milone, who has struggled on the road. Target Field is enormous. That’s a nice gesture from Billy Beane. Sort of a, “Sorry for sending you to Triple-A so many times, Tommy” if you will.

More from Oakland A's Rumors

Sam Fuld is the return from the Twins for Milone. After the high of the previous deal, this is a little underwhelming. Sam Fuld has been good, but Milone is worth more than a player that the A’s let go for nothing earlier this season.

Fuld is hitting .274 this season, and plays very solid defense. This move encapsulates the type of player that Billy Beane has been trying to acquire this season; all of these players have speed. With the re-aquisition of Fuld and the offseason deals for Craig Gentry and Billy Burns, Beane is making the A’s more dangerous on the base paths.

They have enough power in the lineup, but power can go away for a series. Speed can win a game every day.

While I don’t like the trade for Fuld with it’s value relative to Milone, I do like the addition of Fuld.
