The Oakland Athletics released their 2015 schedule, giving fans a chance to temporarily forget the presently struggling team and start thinking about the future. The season starts later than usual, and ends in October. The Rangers will come to Oakland for the A’s season and home opener on April 6th, 2015. Want an epic final home series? Get ready to see the Giants on September 25-27th for the Battle of the Bay to conclude the final home games of the 2015 season. Following the last home series, the A’s will hit the road to face the Angels before ending their regular season in October against the Mariners.

Interleague Play

2015 will match up the highly competitive AL West and lackluster NL West, giving the A’s a chance to play (and beat) relatively unfamiliar teams. There will be 20 interleague games, with 10 at home, and 10 on the road. This is ideal, since the A’s are familiar with facing the Giants and won’t have to travel across the country for interleague play. Interleague play will kick off on June 15th in San Diego against the Padres for a two game series. Both teams will then fly to Oakland to play two more games here.

More from Oakland A's News

The A’s will play the Dodgers and Padres for 2 road games, and 2 home games each. They will also face the Rockies and Diamondbacks for 3 road games each. The A’s will also have Battle of the Bay games in San Francisco on July 24-26th.

A’s fans dispersed around California and the West Coast will have plenty of opportunities to see their Swingin’ A’s play nearby in 2015. The A’s will play on the road in Seattle, Denver, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Anaheim, San Diego, Phoenix, Arlington and Houston. Start planning your vacation time and trip now, because seeing an A’s game in a new park is highly memorable experience!

Holiday Games

Holiday weekends generally mean an extra day off from work, or an extra opportunity to hit up an A’s game! In 2015 there will be a home game for Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day. It’s the perfect time to bring the family to the Coliseum, and to share an unforgettable experience.

Memorial Day (May 25th): Home game against the Tigers

Independence Day (July 4th): Home game against the Mariners

Labor Day (September 7th): Home game against the Astros

First Half vs Second Half

The schedule appears to be relatively balanced between the first and second halves. Prior to the 2015 All-Star Break, the A’s will have 33 games against teams that were above .500 in 2014. In the second half, they will have 32 games against teams that were above .500 in 2014. The A’s will have 23 home games against AL West teams, but only 12 in the second half.

Big Match-Ups

Rivalries will be renewed in 2015, kicking off with the A’s and Angels meeting up in April. The A’s will play a 4-game series in Anaheim on April 20-23rd and then in Oakland April 28-30th.  May will feature huge match ups with the Red Sox, Tigers and Yankees. All 3 match ups will be in Oakland. The Yankees and Red Sox may bounce back in 2014 but the A’s had a .667 win percentage against the Yankees and a .571 record against the Red Sox. The A’s will also face the Mariners on the road. The Mariners will continue to brutally fight to reach the top of the AL West. They’ve been easy to discount but the A’s had a losing record against them for 2014 (.438).

June will match up the A’s with the Tigers, Red Sox and Angels on the road. The Angels will also be in Oakland for a 3-game series. The A’s will play the Yankees on the road in July. They will also face the Orioles in August, both at home and on the road. The A’s will see more of the Angels in September, starting the month in Oakland and ending the month in Anaheim. The second series of September is at home against the Mariners, and the A’s end their season in October in Seattle.
