Marcus Semien: It’s said that 2015 could be Semien’s break out year. With just a little over half a season of experience in the big leagues, Semien is projected to do well statistically. Although his batting average is nothing special (.240/.293/.380), it is based on 326 career plate appearances. His minor league numbers are much more impressive. His Double A and Triple A combined gives Marcus a .284/.401/.479, 19 Home runs, and 24 Stolen bases. When Semien wasn’t living up to his minor league phenomenon he was sent back to Triple A. I think the While Sox jumped the gun with that one, an entire MLB season with ups and downs would have done him some good. Beane has been a fan of Semien’s for a while and has stated he targeted him early on. So it’s safe to assume Marcus will receive the opportunity he deserves with the A’s. I’m looking forward to seeing his rare combo of speed and power take him far this season.
