2015 MLB Preseason Power Rankings

facebooktwitterreddit

The season is just around the corner, and of course that means it’s time for rankings and predictions. You’ll likely see hundreds of them over the next week or two. So I figured why not throw my own in to the mix? Predictions aren’t really my strong suit, so I’m going with rankings. I thought putting all the MLB teams in order from worst to first based on how the team looks on paper going into the 2015 season wouldn’t be too difficult a task, but I was wrong. It was tricky.

“You write for an Oakland Athletics website, of course you’ll be biased!” – Anyone that reads this that doesn’t like the A’s. I can hear it all ready.

More from Oakland A's News

Well, I will let you know now that I tried to put my Oakland bias away for this one. As well as my disdain for other teams, cough, Angels, cough.

Even though this was a tricky process, it was fun. Here are my preseason power rankings for the 2015 season. Please feel free to tell me how much you agree, or disagree, with me in the comments section!

. Washington Nationals. 1. team. 90. This is definitely a World Series or bust type of year for the Nats. With the addition of Max Scherzer they have the most dominate pitching staff in baseball, and their offense and defense are nothing to scoff at either..

. Los Angeles Dodgers. 2. team. 71. Clayton Kershaw will have an improved defense behind him this year, but will the offense suffer for it? Losing Hanley Ramirez, Matt Kemp, and Dee Gordon will be tough, but the Dodgers feel like they upgraded around the diamond as a whole..

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. 3. team. 102. All reports say the Garret Richards is progressing well from offseason knee surgery, and that Matt Shoemaker is dazzling in spring training. They also have a Mike Trout, so that helps.. .

. . St. Louis Cardinals. 4. team. 33. A perennial competitor with great pitching and stellar defense may only get better this year with the addition of Jason Heyward. I also believe that young second basemen Kolten Wong will breakout this year.
