Oakland Athletics Roundup: Top Free Agents; Third Base Battle; ’74 World Series

Oakland Athletics Roundup: Thursday, October 22

The New York Mets advanced to the World Series last night, beating the Chicago Cubs 8-3 at Wrigley Field. Former Oakland Athletics’ outfielder Yoenis Cespedes will move on, but he is nursing a shoulder injury that forced him to leave Game 4 of the NLCS after just two innings.

After the game, Cespedes joked to reporters that both he and his shoulder would be fine by the time the World Series begins. “If not, I’ll chop it off and put a new one on,” he said.

Meanwhile, Josh Donaldson and the Toronto Blue Jays stayed alive for one more game, despite being down 3-2 in the series. A loss will knock them out of the playoffs and send the Kansas City Royals to meet the Mets.

Let’s go, Jays.
