Oakland Athletics Roundup: Tuesday, December 29
After a brief hiatus for the holiday season, the Oakland Athletics roundup is back! Be sure to check back every morning for your daily dose of A’s baseball.
Over the holidays, Matthew Artz of the Contra Costa Times reported that the newspaper had obtained a 21-page city report that discussed potential sites for a new Oakland Athletics stadium. The five sites mentioned are mostly locations that have major issues – either costs related to obtaining the land and making it usable, or feasibility concerns such as parking and mass transit deficiencies.

With the Oakland Raiders possibly on their way back to Los Angeles, it’s becoming very likely that the Athletics will stay in the city of Oakland. They just need a home that isn’t in the state of disrepair that the O.Co Coliseum is right now. But accepting just any home would be foolish, given that they’ve waited so long already for a new stadium. Luckily, it appears that the Athletics aren’t particularly interested in any of these potential locations, which could save the team both money and time in the long run.
In other news, the Athletics signed Henderson Alvarez and designated Arnold Leon for assignment. For more information on those moves, be sure to read our deal recap.
