The Oakland A’s may be getting one of their injured players back in the next few days as Chad Pinder is starting to ramp up once again.
The past week has been a brutal one for the Oakland A’s. Injuries have decimated their roster, with key pieces of the lineup and bench being lost to the Injured List. Some of those pieces, such as Matt Chapman, are lost for the year.
But there are some positives. The Oakland A’s may be getting one of their key pieces back in the coming days as Chad Pinder is starting to return to baseball activities.
In theory, Pinder can be activated on Wednesday. That would give him a few games to get some action, receiving those at bat and reps in the field that will allow him to be ready for the postseason.

While Pinder may not be a set regular in the lineup, he has still been valuable for the A’s over the years. Pinder has been their top utility option, seeing time at the outfield corners, as well as second and third. This year, he has primarily been used on the infield, slotting in as a platoon option at second with Tony Kemp, and seeing action at the hot corner with Chapman’s absence.
These final few games may be able to get Pinder on track at the plate as well. He has posted a disappointing .226/.281/.396 batting line this season, with three doubles and two homers in his 57 plate appearances.
With the A’s having clinched a playoff berth, this is the perfect time to get Pinder back. He can get those needed plate appearances without much pressure. And the A’s can rest several of their regulars before the postseason begins, giving them a little time off after their grueling schedule over the past three weeks.
The Oakland A’s may get some help soon. Chad Pinder has begun baseball activities and may be on his way back to the diamond soon.
