Jose Canseco has never shied away from a way to make a quick buck. Between his various promotions to spend a weekend with him and see various cryptids to his celebrity boxing career, he has certainly done his best to utilize his celebrity to his advantage.
His latest attempt to capitalize on himself may be questionable in terms of legality. He has revealed a new merchandise line, including items that feature other people.
Jose Canseco unveils merchandise line
There is nothing wrong with Canseco using his likeness to generate income. Even the hat with his last name and the ‘premium juice’ slogan, while it may be similar to that of a juice company, is likely acceptable.

The problem comes from the likenesses of other people. Considering the relative animosity between Mark McGwire and Canseco due to his tell-all book about the Steroid Era, and how he outed McGwire as a PED user, it is difficult to believe that his former teammate was willing to allow his image to be used on the Bash Brothers shirt.
That article of clothing pales in comparison to a truly epic shirt that Canseco has put forth. He also has his Canse-Lo shirt, featuring a shirtless Canseco and Jennifer Lopez in the foreground, with a sad looking Alex Rodriguez in the background. The link to purchase the shirt even has a comment where he sarcastically wishes that A-Rod is having a good day.
Chances are, Canseco will sell through all of these items. Even though Canseco has become a parody of himself, he is still a popular entity, especially on Twitter. His merchandise will generate plenty of attention. It is just a matter of whether or not he will be able to enjoy the profits, or if those will be eaten in legal battles.
Jose Canseco has unveiled a new merchandise line. As wonderful as some of these items may be, the legality of the images is questionable at best.
