The Oakland A’s continue to play both the City of Oakland and Las Vegas against one another. While there are positive reports coming out of Oakland regarding the Howard Terminal project, Rob Manfred says that the league does not see a way forward. That is absolutely what anyone involved with these talks wants to hear.
And now the Las Vegas side is starting to heat up. A’s president Dave Kaval is expected to list the final six destinations for the new ballpark should the team actually move to Nevada.
Oakland A’s to unveil list of Las Vegas sites
It does make sense for the A’s to come out with that list. Even if Las Vegas is just a matter of posturing at this point, the league and team have to find a way to keep the pressure on Oakland to make the Howard Terminal project happen.
It is also a matter of time before a team ends up in Las Vegas. This would seem to be the preferred expansion choice for Major League Baseball, with the A’s essentially performing the ground work in terms of locating a stadium for that new team.
But it is also a matter of whether or not the Howard Terminal project can continue forward as hoped. There are positive signs coming from the city, and the infrastructure issues around the site may be getting figured out. But it is still a matter of bringing everything together. If any part of that project falls apart, the A’s could have their fallback plan ready to go.
The Oakland A’s are set to unveil their list of six finalists for stadium sites in Las Vegas. It is no surprise that this list will be coming.
