A's select 10 players on Day 3 of 2023 MLB Draft
The 2023 MLB Draft got going on Sunday, July 9, with the Oakland Athletics slotted in the sixth-overall position after coming out as losers of the draft lottery held at the end of the 2022 calendar year.
With the no. 6 selection, and following a chalky start to the event in which all five players expected to get off the board did so, the A's selected Jacob Wilson, a shortstop from Grand Canyon University.
They followed that up with the selections of shortstop Myles Naylor from St. Joan of Arc Catholic High School (Ontario, Canada) with the 39th pick, and the A's then selected outfielder Ryan Lasko from Rutgers with the 41st overall pick.
Then, Monday arrived and with it the second day of draft selections, of which the A's made eight to fill their farm system. That brought the total selections made by the Athletics to 11 players through the first two days of the draft.
Through Monday, the A's had picked 11 players coming from different universities, three prospects coming out of high school, and from a positional angle, they'd selected five position players (three outfielders, two infielders) to go with six pitchers.
