Oakland A's probable pitchers & starting lineups vs. Pittsburgh Pirates, May 1

The Oakland A's are going for their first sweep of the year this afternoon as they get set to take on the Pittsburgh Pirates in game three of the series. They enter this afternoon's game having won 5 of their last 6 and are now 14-17 on the year.

They're still way behind in terms of expected stats though they've looked like a capable squad outside of their two series' with the Guardians. They'll get a much needed day off tomorrow as well, so it should be no holds barred for Mark Kotsay and his efforts to do whatever it takes to get the win today.

• Ross Stripling will take the mound today looking to get out of the funk he's been in so far. He's 0-5 with a 4.98 ERA in his 6 starts, throwing 34.1 innings with a 25:8 strikeout to walk ratio. The A's bullpen could definitely use the rest if they can get it. Stripling has made it through at least 5 innings in each of his starts. Hopefully the A's can get some offense going behind him and finally get rid of the zero in the win column.

• Righty Quinn Priester gets the nod for the Pirates today. He's thrown 10.1 innings across two starts, posting a 3.48 ERA and 8 strikeouts to just 2 walks. The Pirates are looking to get out of a slump, having lost 6 of their last 7 and losing ground in a tight NL Central race.
