Get ready for a preview of future Battles in the Bay, as the Oakland Athletics' future stars will take on the pride of the San Francisco Giants this week in MLB's first annual (fingers crossed) Spring Breakout showcase!

And you can watch, via an embedded player, right here on White Cleat Beat.

The two interleague rivals will face off on March 15 at Hohokam Stadium as the second game of a doubleheader between the franchises. A classic spring training contest will begin at 1:05 PM PST, followed by a seven-inning prospect showdown featuring as many of Oakland and San Francisco's Top 30 prospects as they can get on a roster.

SF's crew has been pretty boastful about their chances for future success. No. 7 prospect, right-hander Hayden Birdsong, recently noted, “We’re deep,” Birdsong said. “People should be scared, let’s put it that way. It should be fun. There’s a lot of dudes in here.” It's time to knock 'em down a peg.

The A's have a "lot of dudes," too, and their Spring Breakout roster is highlighted by Top 30 prospects Jacob Wilson, Max Muncy, Daniel Susac and pitcher Steven Echavarria.

This will be the first glimpse many A's fans have gotten of Jack Wilson's son, also a shortstop, who's projected to reach the bigs sometime in 2025.

This game will last seven innings, and pitchers will be allowed to reenter as they see fit, in order to maximize their time in the spotlight. Hopefully, Birdsong struggles so profoundly with the A's lineup that he's forced to exit and reenter the showcase.
