A’s Have A Winning Streak: A Limerick

Here we are again. Game recap time. The A’s have won their second consecutive game, the first such streak since August 22 and 23. Both of these victories came after one of my “creative” recaps. I wrote a haiku, the A’s win. I write a fairy tale, the A’s win. I don’t want to take all the credit but until they lose, I am going to continue this trend…and take some of the credit.

Today’s recap will be a series of limericks. As far as I know, none of the players in today’s game are from Nantucket so these will all be clean limericks to celebrate the hopeful rebirth of our beloved A’s team.
There once was a pitcher named Lester
Who joined us our final trimester
Big wins were his style
But seldom he smiled
So no one accused him of jester
Bob Melvin gave Lester the ball
Jon Lester accepted the call
He threw many pitches
But dug out of ditches
Eight runners, he stranded them all
It seems like their bats were asleep
Forever since someone went deep
Sam Fuld hit one hard
And Moss cleared the yard
Enough to make grown athletes weep
When Otero came in to relieve
His outing was hard to believe
He loaded the bases
For one of their aces
But managed to make trouble brief
With Coco in scoring position
Sam Fuld took the bat with a mission
He singled to left
And thanks to Crisps heft
Was able to see out his vision
The inning was already wonky
When up to the plate came the donkey
With two men aboard
He batted, one scored
Now Dunn’s a magnificent clutch hitter
Now leading the game up by four
The A’s wished to maintain the score
There’s only a few
As light’s out as Doo
And that’s who the A’s fans adore
The A’s are now back in the race
We’re hoping they keep up this pace
With wildcard a probably
We just can’t play wobbly
We have to remain in the chase
