The 2015 season opener was the first season opening victory the Oakland Athletics have enjoyed in 10 seasons. Ben Zobrist, in his first at bat as an Athletic, hit a home run. Sonny Gray pitched 7 no-hit innings (there were two base runners due to an error and a HBP) until Ryan Rua opened the 8th inning with a base hit. Had Gray completed the no-hitter, he would have been the second pitcher to ever do so on an opening day game and the first in 75 years.
Today marked the debut of the new scoreboards and ribbon boards and a moment of silence was observed for former broadcaster Lon Simmons who passed away on Easter Sunday.
