The spring training game between the Oakland Athletics and the Cleveland Indians that day would go down in history as one of the strangest games of all time. It began in the first inning when the A’s scored 11 runs with six coming off of errors by Brandon Moss who had thrown every ball hit to him into the stands, regardless of fair or foul status.

By the third inning, the A’s had gone through their lineup four times and Scott Kazmir was throwing a no hitter.

By the sixth inning, with Cleveland still hitless, Melvin began pinch-hitting coaches and fans from the crowd.

By the ninth inning, the A’s were up 34-0 and Kazmir had only thrown 67 pitches in his first exhibition perfect game.

Jennifer knew she had a lot to do with this game and that it had to be a sign that a World Series was in the stars for the Oakland Athletics.
