Special Notes:
If there is good news to be found in this loss to the Houston Astros it’s that you can’t blame it all on the bullpen this time. Kendall Graveman, in his last start before being sent back down to Nashville, was only good for 4.2 innings and I use the term “good” loosely. His biggest mistake was the three run homer he gave to Altuve in the second inning but he also gave up 9 hits and a walk in his short outing while striking out only 1.

Chris Bassitt, playing in long relief, fared a little better by only giving up one earned run and striking out three but his earned run came on a home run by Springer and he managed to walk three batters in the process.
On the plus side, Josh Reddick continues to show great maturity at the plate going 2 for 2 and walking twice for a 1.000 OBP on the day. Eric Sogard, who has not been swinging the bat as well as spring training would have indicated, led the team with two RBI’s when he tripled in the bottom of the seventh. The Oakland Athletics are still seeking their first daytime win, a statistic that is completely meaningless and without reason but strange none the less.
