Special Notes:

After a disappointing series sweep by the Astros, the Oakland Athletics really needed a win and they did just that, on the backs of Josh Reddick and Brett Lawrie. Reddick continues to swing the bat very well in this sixth consecutive game with at least one hit from the right fielder. In fact, he’s reached base in each of his last 10 games and has driven in 11 RBI’s in the season so far. In 2014, Reddick needed 38 games to drive in that many runs but in 2015, after starting the season on the disabled list, he needed only 14.

Sonny Gray looked a little out of sorts when he gave up a leadoff walk, a single, a wild pitch, and a two run single in the first inning but he was dominant from there on out. He gave up only those two runs, didn’t allow a base runner past the second inning and pitched 8 complete with six strike outs. In his five starts in April, Gray has averaged 7+ innings and has yet to receive a loss (although the A’s bullpen did drop two of his games). His ERA is sitting at 1.98 for the month.
